The Project
The Reid Highway Grade Separation Project involves upgrading signalised intersections along Reid Highway into grade-separated interchanges, removing traffic signals to improve safety, freight efficiency and traffic flow along one of Perth’s busiest arterial corridors.
The project includes new bridge structures, upgraded interchange ramps and roundabouts, an extended shared path network for cyclists and pedestrians, and associated landscaping and urban design works. Mallee Karlip is currently delivering works on this project as it progresses through construction.
Our Scope
Mallee Karlip’s involvement on the project began with an electrical early works package for Georgiou, comprising the removal and replacement of existing light poles and a detailed electrical and ITS audit of existing infrastructure across the project. This early works phase established the foundation for Mallee Karlip’s continuing engagement in the project’s broader electrical and ITS scope.
Our scope included:
Electrical and ITS audits of existing infrastructure
Installation and connection of CCTV cameras, traffic-monitoring equipment and other ITS field devices
Integration of ITS equipment into the MRWA communications network
Manufacture, installation and testing of ITS cabinets and associated UPS systems
Installation of fibre-optic communications backbone infrastructure
Installation, termination and testing of power, control, communications and fibre-optic cabling
Installation of pits, conduits, concrete collars, pit lids and associated civil infrastructure
Installation and commissioning of MRWA-compliant street lighting and Principal Shared Path lighting
Installation of lighting poles, luminaires, outreach arms, brackets and associated cabling
Installation, relocation and energisation of main switchboards, distribution boards and lighting control panels
Coordination with Georgiou, MRWA, designers, manufacturers, suppliers and other project stakeholders
Delivery of works within live traffic environments, including planned nightshift activities and works under traffic management
Support for Site Acceptance Testing, Network Integration Testing, System Integration Acceptance Testing and Final System Testing
Progressive electrical testing, verification and commissioning
Defect identification, punch-list management and close-out
Completion and verification of Inspection and Test Records and supporting quality documentation
Preparation of redline mark-ups and as-built documentation
